An Interview with Ari Tulla , CEO & Co-founder of Better Doctor
Posted on July 19, 2013
Today we’re talking with Ari Tulla, co-founder and CEO of BetterDoctor, a site for finding doctors. Their site takes the pain out of finding and booking a doctor.
How and where did you get the idea for your company?
My story is a standard healthcare entrepreneur story. After years of family health struggles and tens of doctors I decided that there has to be a better way to find the right doctor. I left my position as the Head of Nokia’s App Studios and founded BetterDoctor together with my co-founder Tapio Tolvanen. I didn’t have much industry knowledge outside of being a very demanding consumer.
Who is one person you have always looked up to?
J. R. R. Tolkien. He is one of few people in recent history who has created something tangible that will live on for generations. Most big thinkers and leaders of our time will be forgotten in 100 years.
What is the most important action you took that you believe brought success to your business?
We started with a very large problem, and decided to build consumer centric solution.
What is the number one tip you would offer to a young entrepreneur?
Building a startup can be very fun and sexy, but most days it’s just very hard work. Before you start the journey make sure you are passioned about the idea, and have the right team members.
